Letters from a vampyre.

The letters were not just beautiful seductions. They were teachings, outlining a systematic undoing of the belief systems which hold us prisoners to the consensual mortal world - the dayshine world.

Over a period of years, we were instructed via these letters as well as through Ouija board sessions and gnosis-channelings. What we were being taught was the process of evolution from mortal to immortal, the transmogrification of human to vampyre. It is our own mind which creates reality, but the hardest part is undoing the programming which tells us we are impotent children in meat suits at the whim of some deity. This is the best book I've EVER read! I'm not much of a reader, but I bought the kindle edition of this and couldn't be happier.
Though some of what it says, I've thought myself, it contains a lot of interesting, new, and useful information. It's scary how true this book is, most people could not fathom it.
Basically, I live by this book. It explains my thinking in every way possible and more. I've suggested this book to SO many people!
I also love that on the actual site of this book, you can talk to the author and ask questions. He is very intelligent and knowledgeable.
Anything is possible, we hold ourselves back from living/evolving to our true potential. That's something to remember!

2nd verse better than the first!

I now have 4 copies of Teachings of the Immortals in 3 different formats! Woot! And, I got my wish, that this book be available in a non-spiral-bound format. In 2010 I downloaded the Kindle version of this book. I wanted to know what real immortality is all about. I received a book whose words curl around my heart and give it a thrilling squeeze. I immediately purchased a physical copy of the book for when my poor nearsighted eyes got tired of looking at the little screen of my internet tablet and gave it a review so please check that out.

Sometime later, as the words of Teachings of the Immortals became more than just mantras for me, I bought a second copy of the spiral bound to annotate because I realized that it was speaking to me in a way no other book has ever spoken and I wanted a record of that somewhere. I also joined the immortalis-animus forum and began to discuss the topics brought up in the book. I've had the joy and privilege of speaking directly with the author.

As a long-time seeker, I feel like I've finally come home. There is only one way to experience The Teachings of the Immortals and that is to crack open the pages of this new and expanded version, complete with discussions from the forum. This book will open your mind and help to undo the programs that we, as humans, have been trapped in since birth. Teachings of the Immortals has so much more to offer than mere words. It is written for the heart, not the head, and not in any linear fashion. Such is the circle, the cycle, the pulse of knowing that comes only when one truly surrenders to the poem inside.

If you think you know everything there is to know about vampires, think again.
If you think you know what immortality is, think again.
This book is not an encyclopedic reiteration of "vampires throughout history and literature." (Don't we have enough of those?)
It is not a pathetic fiction wherein all kinds of "supernatural" things happen to some dainty heroine while she attempts to save the world.
It is not some flowery nonsense about how vampires hate themselves for being what they are.
It is a living, breathing guide to transforming yourself and breaking down the barrier between what you think is reality and the dark glory that is the Night that Never Ends.

Immortality is Truly Attainable!

This is a really wonderful book!
I read it daily to glean from its pages the better parts, as the teachings get deeper and more illuminating the further down the path of progression I go. If you should choose to read this book remember to be patient, and listen to the Twin for inner knowing and comprehension. The knowledge gained from reading its pages has to be acquired through action, actually DOING what is written, as that is the only real way to learn the path of the Immortal Vampyre.
This is a work that cannot be spoken highly enough of, for as you see, these teachings will truly help you in your quest to achieve Immortality.
I am personally grateful to have found this work and to be implementing its teachings into my life.

Much more than just a bunch of bulls***

This is a tough book to crack. On the one hand it resembles a book of poetry, while on the other it contains verbose and explicit instructions on how to essentially become immortal through becoming a being of light, connected to the energetic web that surrounds all beings.

Thank god the author, Mikal, included an introductory paragraph explaining the purpose behind the book.

To some the poems may come across as madness, but as someone seeking spiritual growth for years I often can look back at passages straight out of this book that make perfect sense, where before they made little.

The bottom line here is that Mikal clearly has real experience and knows what he is talking about. Which adds to the allure of the language and terms given in the book. This is book full of poetically written information that is essentially a guide to achieving immortality. Real immortality--not just some spiritual mumbo-jumbo. Although it also teaches sorcery and spritual development. As the author teaches, the world is essentially an illusion and breaking beyond the illusions frees one's inner power, one of those powers being to trascend death.

"Teachings of the Immortals," then is somewhat similar to to Castaneda and his works, in that it's a system of knowledge unto itself with various lingo and teachings that may be confusing but contain real truth. Certain concepts are also related to Castaneda's work, including the "Double" or "dreaming body." The difference here is that Mikal more blatantly explains the "dreaming body" as not just a vessel for dreaming but as the ultimate key to immortality as he defines it.

One could easily pick up this book and find it just inspiring or having pretty language, or even just entertaining, as Castaneda's works are. But there is a very real and grander message here, as in both works. This is a guide to doing something important but impossible--living forever.

Perhaps the oddest thing about the book is that it often speaks from the perspective of the Other, as a third-person narrator instructing you on how to become immortal (or a "vampyre"). Though the book contains many metaphors it is not specifically focused on vampires or that sort of language. The message goes much deeper. As the author says, "Vampyre is just a word."

There is a glossary at the back which is perhaps just as if not more valuable than the tome itself. That alone can give the reader the breadth and understanding of the writer's perspective and what this book is about.

Finally, the author encourages other "seekers" to engage with him on his forum. I have found the forum to be quite valuable and the author from time to time still releases entirely new passages that work in tandem with "Teachings."

The only real criticisms I have for the book are twofold. First, in the presentation. The graphics and fonts used are a bit aged and perhaps a little hokey. This is not a postmodern-looking work, but perhaps that was intentional to draw in the sort of crowd who is not taken in by strong visuals over substance. This also includes the author's website. It doesn't necessarily detract from the book, but personally I would do things differently.

Secondly, there are straight-up poems in this book aside from the more expository passages that I don't care for, but again this is probably personal and Mikal encourages the reader to "see with the third eye," to say that there is greater meaning embedded in the poems than can be gleaned from just a shallow reading.

In the end, if you are looking for something "more," if you wonder if there is any magic in the world, if you are looking for the answer to whether immortality is a possibility--then definitely pick this up. You can't go wrong for the price, and the book is written in such a way that there is little to disagree with. I have certainly never read anything else quite like it, and it is definitely not a "self-help book" nor just a poetry book.

Also, when you pick this up, be sure to follow the "Getting the most from the Teachings" section. It really will maximize the experience.

Ultimately I rate this book 4 stars for shallow reasons simply because I believe the format and graphics could be improved. Other than that, the content itself deserves highest marks for being scarily accurate, even when I don't always want it to be.

About the Author

Sharon E. Smaldino Sharon holds the L. D. and Ruth G. Morgridge Endowed Chair for Teacher Education in the College of Education at Northern Illinois University (NIU). She was a professor of educational technology at the University of Northern Iowa for many years prior to moving to NIU. Sharon received her PhD in 1987 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Prior to that she received an MA in elementary education and served for more than a dozen years as teacher, speech therapist, and special educator in school districts from Florida to Minnesota. At Northern Iowa she taught educational media courses for undergraduates and graduate majors and served as coordinator of the educational technology program. Sharon also taught graduate courses in instructional development, technology integration, distance education, and professional standards and ethical practice. She has received several awards for her outstanding teaching. In her current role, she is focused on working with faculty and PK—12 teachers to integrate technology into the learning process. Presenting at state, national, and international conferences, Sharon has become an important voice on applications of technology in the classroom and in distance education. In addition to her teaching and consulting, Sharon has written articles for state and national journals on her primary research interest–effective technology integration in learning. She worked on a teacher quality enhancement grant that identifi ed technology as an important aspect of ensuring quality learning environments. She also served as the editor of TechTrends, an AECT publication.

Deborah L. Lowther Deborah has been an educator for 30 years. For the fi rst seven years of her career she taught middle school science and was highly engaged with providing professional development to teachers within and beyond her district. Because of her desire to work with teachers, she received her PhD in educational technology in 1994 and accepted a

faculty position at the University of Memphis in 1995. At the University of Memphis, Deborah serves as the senior technology researcher for the Center for Research in Educational Policy, through which she investigates P–12 technology integration issues. She has personally conducted observations in P–12 classrooms and interviewed students, teachers, and principals in numerous

schools across the country. She has used the knowledge and experiences gained through engagement in applied research to develop the iNtegrating Technology for inQuiry (NTeQ) Model with Dr. Gary Morrison. This model has been the foundational approach for several high-profi le technology initiatives, including Michigan’s Freedom to Learn program and Tennessee’s EdTech Launch program. With regard to scholarship, Deborah has coauthored several books, chapters, and refereed journal articles; presented at numerous national and international conferences; and has provided professional development to educational institutions across the nation.

James D. Russell Jim is Professor Emeritus of Educational Technology at Purdue University, where he taught for 38 years. Jim also worked part time for Purdue’s Center for Instructional Excellence, where he conducted workshops on teaching techniques and consulted on instructional improvement. During fourteen spring semesters he was Visiting Professor of Educational

Psychology and Learning Systems at Florida State University. There he also worked part time for the Center for Teaching and Learning. A former high school mathematics and physics teacher, Jim teaching career spans 45 years. He has won numerous honors for his teaching at Purdue, including his department’s Outstanding Teacher Award and the School of Education’s Best Teacher Award. He is also the recipient of AECT’s Diamond Mentor Award. He was selected as a member of Purdue’s Teaching Academy and has been inducted into the Purdue Book of Great Teachers. His specialty areas, in which he has achieved national prominence through his writings and presentations, are presentation skills and using media and technology in classrooms. Through his teaching, workshops, consulting, and this textbook, Jim has made a signifi cant impact on classroom teaching practice.

If You Have Almost No Knowledge of Educational Technology.

This book is more for the individual that has almost zero knowledge of technology and its use in the classroom. I already knew just about everything presented in this book. Though, it's difficult to fault the authors and the book itself simply because technology advances and changes at such a blinding fast speed that the task of staying updated is quite formidable, if not near impossible. It's not like a history or perhaps a math textbook.

I used it for a class I took but I barely consulted with it other than to cite it once or twice. Think hard before purchasing.

Very upset

I was given a Kindle Reader for Christmas. I tried to download this BOOK on my reader as that is supposed to be what they are for. I was not allowed to download this on my reader. I ended up having to go and spend additional money to get a Kindle Fire in order to download the books. I am sorry but I feel that if you are going to sell a book, it should be available to read on all of your devices considering that is what you are selling.

Tremendous Text - Tremendous Price

I have been using this text book since the beginning of this semester (Fall 2011). The information in the book is excellent; however, even through Amazon the price is outrageous. If the price seemed a little more reasonable I would have given it 5 stars. It's unfortunate that textbook publishers charge so much money for their products. I'd love to find out what justifies their prices at least then I might understand their logic. Meanwhile, the information in the book is really good and it is made even better by my professor's classes.

A book I can happily recommend

Why I Choose this Book:

The title should be a sufficient explanation. :)

What I Thought About this Book:

It was really good. It was also one of those books that can't be gulped down, because, well, it's just *wrong* to slurp a book up in a couple of sittings when it talks so much about slowing down and spending time with God and listening for Him.

That, by the way, is my big take-away from the book. I have a hard time slowing down and spending time listening for God's voice. My imagination is so active that I have a hard time clearing it of activity to just be still, but that is something I'm working on. In the past I've prayer journaled a lot which really helps me to keep focus. Because of a wrist injury though, I haven't done as much journaling or typing in the last few months, and so I'd been just praying instead of prayer journaling. Going back to prayer journaling (something this book encouraged), was helpful and I realized how much I've missed it.

Mr. Goll's writing style is quite practical and easy to understand. The way he talks about God was really encouraging. It's obvious he views God with reverence, but also sees Him as a loving Friend and Father. In fact, he refers to God multiple times as "Papa God" which I really liked. Mr. Goll is personable in the book, sharing some of the things he struggled with, as well as times God worked through him.

Conclusion:

The book was easy-to-understand, challenging, practical, and a very worth-while read. Plus, the cover is beautiful, which is a plus.

I'm giving Hearing God's Voice Today 4 stars out of 5, and 8 stars out of 10. I happily recommend it.

“As it was in the beginning”… and so starts this book; “Hearing God’s Voice Today; Practical help for Listening to Him and Recognizing His voice” by James Goll. In this book the author takes us right there… to the beginning and from there offers the readers the tools necessary and equips them draw nearer to God and truly believe that He wants to speak to us. In this book, we learn to recognize His voice while overcoming what gets in the way of that.

This book is such a great how-to guide to conversing with the King. My favorite quote from page 56 – “As full citizens and members of this royal priesthood of the Lord, we have the right to request, at any time, a personal audience with the Master of the universe. We can come boldly before His throne of grace to bring our request”.

Do not merely read this book for the sake of reading. Slow down and digest all that it has to offer. Slow down and listen. Slow down and hear His voice.

Excellent one volume intro to how all the issues connect.

I used this book as text for high school "Global Studies" courses, and thought it was terrific in its understandable but not watered down treatment of the big issues -- war, hunger, women's rights, population, environment, etc. Shows how these issues relate to each other. It was a stretch for 9th graders, but would be perfect for high school seniors or college intro.

Representation of information is questionable

This book would have been much better if it stayed focused on the issues and facts. Instead the author decides to make frequent historical political comments based on his opinions, that have nothing to do with the issues. These breaks from analysis of the facts makes me question his ability to deliver unbiased information throughout the rest of the book.
